31 New Officers to Graduate From DPSCS Correctional Academy

TOWSON, MD (November 27, 2012) --- The Correctional Entry Level Training Program will graduate 31 new officers on Thursday, November 29th at 2:30 p.m. at the MD Public Safety Education and Training Center in Sykesville.

The officers will be working in DPSCS correctional facilities in Sykesville, Baltimore, and Jessup. Two will be employed by the State Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene at Clifton T. Perkins Hospital, and two will be join the ranks at DPSCS’ Patuxent Institution.

DPSCS has exhaustively re-written and revised the academy curriculum this year, adding much more physical training, scenario-based learning, ethics and fraternization classes, and other important coursework. The academy was also lengthened by nine days, to 35 days.
