Maryland Correctional Enterprises Inmates
to Launder 17,000 Bras for Charity

TOWSON, MD (December 11, 2012) --- Inmates who work at the huge MD Correctional Enterprises central laundry plant will handle unusual laundry Thursday: more than seventeen thousand bras that have been donated as part of a breast cancer awareness campaign. The work is being done for free by MD Correctional Enterprises (MCE).
MCE, one of the top ten prison industries in the nation, has a large laundry operation in Sykesville which handles more than 1.5 million pounds of laundry annually from various state agencies. Approximately 100 inmates work at the plant.
